What Jev is — and what it is not
Separate System One decisions from chat models and from the code that acts.
The documented claim
TypeSafe's 15 September 2026 launch post describes Jev as a System One model: unstructured state in, type-safe structured decisions out, with calibrated probabilities. It is not a chatbot. It does not generate strings. See https://typesafe.ai/blog/introducing-system-one-models-and-jev.
Three layers
A coding agent (Claude, Codex, Cursor) writes software. Jev answers questions whose answers were enumerated in advance. Your application code validates the answer and performs or refuses the action. Confusing these layers is how people over-promise.
What we are not claiming
We have not reproduced TypeSafe's latency, cost, or eval figures. Those remain the manufacturer's published results, with the caveats they listed in the same post.
